[ale] ubuntu IMAP does't work, neither does wireless

it tries 2 or 3 times and says bad password.
ssh also fails.. to connect

mmm not sure, it uses DHCP, but it is in the same range 192.168.10.3
up-to 8.
the log I saw the entries in ( on the debian box) was /var/log/messages
& /var/log/kern.log
ssh -v on ubuntu only says
 ssh: connect to host DEBIAN_IP on port 22: Connection timed out
