I get reputation points. Therefore, I have exchanged my knowledge to
you for points that show I have knowledge on the subject.

This sort of exchange is particularly beneficial on StackOverflow
because it migrates to a careers.stackoverflow.com profile. This
profile is a resume that literally shows your knowledge to a potential
employer.
