What I don't understand is how they (the GUI designers mentioned in this
thread) think that a UI for the iPad is any where usable by the
traditional keyboard/mouse/display user. Sure maybe there are some
features that overlap, but for the most part, we've spent 25 years or
more making a UI that fits the keyboard/mouse/display paradigm work.
When my monitor has a touch screen, I might think differently, then
maybe not. My arms would get very tired in a hurry and I don't think
I'll ever be able to type faster than about 3 words per minute on a
touch screen monitor.
By the way, us old men aren't universally unable to grasp the
fundamentals of computer usage. ;)
