[ale] GIMP on Mac

Wife needs photo software and Iphoto has driven her nutz.

The GIMP is available for the Mac.  Can anyone tell me how much trouble it 
is to get it installed?

The download page offers two choices:

1.) .dmg installer from Clayton Walker

2.) a build by Simone Lehmann

Suggestions would be appreciated.
