I just tried to install ubuntu server 14.02 ( LTS). I was going to add X
& make it my desktop.
1. It said it couldn't find my network card. I have a Broadcom BCM57788
. I have searched, and not found a file to download.. any suggestions?
2. it tried ( and failed) to install grub on "/TARGET" ( /dev/sda), so
when I rebooted, it hosed my mbr & dropped me to a grub_rescue prompt.
I ran my boot-rescue-disk to get grub back, it only seems to install
OSes that are on my /dev/sda even though when it asks, I tell it
/dev/sdb is NOT a portable disk.. luckily I have a linux OS on sda, so I
just booted that, reran grub2-mkconfig and was able to get back to my
default /dev/sdb6 fedora...
any suggestions for #1 ??
any other "easy" methods to rewrite mbr, knoppix?
