Just an off-the-wall-guess:

It is somebody who uses Thunderbird?? (or some such) and hits "spam" 
(instead of "delete" or "unsubscribe) and answers "yes" to the question 
"Would you like to unsubscribe?".

And I'll quit there and spare y'all the
