Of course not, but if that's an issue, it's an issue for all mail, not
just mailing lists. In that situation, wouldn't it make more sense to
put a mail server on a fast network and then relay the mail in
compressed batches, like uucp did (still does, for that matter?)
The multiple recipient vs. single recipient argument has long struck
me as more religious than engineering, particularly now that recipient
systems want to automate spam reports and opt-out as much as possible.
