[ale] DSL Modem problem

After looking at your log output and reading your post, I suspect line
noise (More than likely being generated at the C/O by a bad slick, less
likely the wiring at your house) thats being produced from the previous
lightning strike. If it was a driver problem, the chances are you would
not even sync up and get a link: According to your logs, you get a link
and then lose it which indicates possible attenuation of the signal (As
the attenuation rises, the signal window shrinks until it's too small to
maintain a link).
