[ale] Backing up to DVDs

Does anyone know of any backup packages out there for Linux that will 
write to DVDs?  Sure I could roll my own with a complex script involving 
growisofs, dvdrecord, find and some filters but I was hoping not to 
reinvent the wheel.  I envision tossing a DVD RW in the drive once a 
day/week/? and letting the thing run overnight.  I'm not looking for 
full system backups, just important data.
