RE: [datacenter] Server room build questions

I've not worked with the bussing, but that looks really nice. I'll put
that in my pocket for future work. What I actually had done was pretty
low-tech - running flexible conduit to an outlet boxes mounted on the
front and back of the cabinet, actually on the ladder racking just
above, with a twist-lock connector that feeds two power strips in the
cabinets. It's pretty inexpensive and easy for electricians to
understand.

That bussing that Frank sent looks very nice, though.

It could be that, but for more flexibility you might want to look at
something like
what we use in our in-house server rooms. It's basically like a track
lighting
system on steroids; you can add or move boxes whenever you want without
having to shut down power to everything. The boxes contain breakers
for your circuits, and can have builtin outlets, outlets hanging on
cords, or
can be hardwired to your equipment. If you need to move a rack, or
decide
you need extra circuits, it is simle to do without having to call an
electrician
(unless you happen to be goverened by union rules that require it).

The brand we use in our in-house server rooms is StarLine busway
<http://www.uecorp.com/225-amp-busway.asp> but there are other brands
as well.
